Hello, everyone!
Now I am in Athens city, Georgia, U.S.A.
Ten days have passed since the camp started at Georgia University and I am gradually getting accustomed to the living environment here.
This year is colder than normal here: last night it hit -7 degrees C (21 degrees F), and it snowed twice in one week. I suppose Hong Kong and the southern area could be warm but Beijing where the Olympics will be held must be very chilly now. The cold is harsh at winter camp but I think it well worth bearing.
The other day Shot Put world champion Reese Hoffa, athletes of Georgia University, and I went to see an indoor weight throwing meet. Weight Throwing is a competitive sport mainly played in the States, similar to regular Olympic hammer throwing. The ball is 35 pounds (15.88kg) with a larger handle, and the object is to see who can throw this short hammer the farthest. Lance Deal of the United States has the world record, at over 25 meters. I sometimes use this ball just for practice, but I think it would be interesting to compete seriously in this sport. This is the first time I have seen a competition in this sport, but I thought it was very appealing.
